Tyler Donaldson enters his first season as the defensive line coach for the Colonels after serving as a defensive graduate assistant at Louisiana-Monroe.
At ULM, Donaldson, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., assisted several areas of the defense as a GA, working exclusively with the defensive line in 2011. Last season, the Warhawks featured one of the best defenses against the rush, ranking eighth in the nation at 100 yards per game.
Prior to ULM, Donaldson spent one season at Central Gwinnett High school as a defensive line coach. Along with assisting with game planning, he worked with the tight ends on offense.
Donaldson was a two-time All-Mountain West Conference honoree as a defensive lineman at the University of New Mexico. While at UNM, the Lobos made two appearances in the New Mexico Bowl, including a 23-0 victory against Nevada in 2007, snapping a 46-year span without a postseason win. Also that season, the Lobos finished with a 9-4 record, matching their best record since 1982.
Before playing at New Mexico, Donaldson spent two seasons at the New Mexico Military Institute, where he was named first-team All-Western States in 2005.
Donaldson is single and resides in Thibodaux.
