Matt Clark is in his second season as the offensive line coach and third year overall with the Colonels.

Last season under Clark’s guidance, the offensive line reduced its sacks by nine from the previous season, and the offense’s rushing output increased by over 1,000 yards from 2012. Abasi Salimu anchored the line at left tackle and went on to sign an undrafted free agent deal with the St. Louis Rams.

Clark joined the Nicholls coaching staff after spending three seasons as an offensive graduate assistant at Louisiana-Monroe.

Clark, a native of College Station, Texas, worked with the offensive line at ULM for two years after assisting the quarterbacks and wide receivers in 2009. In his first season, Clark helped develop two receivers who earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors and the offense compiled the fifth-highest yard-per-game average (392.3) in program history.

Clark began his collegiate football career at Air Force before transferring to Western Washington University, where he was a three-year starter at tight end and fullback for the Vikings. In 2006, Clark earned North Central Conference All-Academic honors and was named to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

While at WWU, he worked as an intern with the Seattle Seahawks in 2007, assisting the day-to-day operations of player personnel.
