Toren Joseph

Toren Joseph is in his second season coaching for the Nicholls State University football program. He oversees the cornerbacks after coaching the safeties in 2022.

A Nicholls alum, Joseph began his college coaching career in 2020 as a part of the New Mexico Highlands University staff. At NMHU, he coached and developed corners and safeties and led the defensive passing game strategy along with assisting heavily in special teams. While at Highlands, the team garnered the most wins in a season since 2012. Under his guidance in the 2021 season, the secondary helped to rank NMHU No. 1 in the RMAC in interceptions -- tallying 19 interceptions in a single season. The team also ranked second in interceptions in Division II football.

In May of 2015, Joseph began his coaching career at Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans. While at SBW, he developed and guided all-district safety Kevin Johnson, who later signed with the Colonels and lettered four years along with All-Southland First team accolades in 2021.

From 2017-19, Joseph expanded his coaching experience as co-offensive coordinator and receivers and tight ends coach at Riverdale High School.

Born in New Orleans, Joseph attended St. Augustine High School and graduated in 2010. He earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Nicholls in 2014. While in Thibodaux, he lettered five seasons with the football team from 2010-2014.

After spending time with Nicholls in the spring of '22, he and his family are happy to join the Colonels family.
