2012 Season (Junior): Named Southland Conference All-Academic for the second time... played in 6 games, recording 9 tackles... had 0.5 tackles for loss... suffered a head injury in the opener at South Alabama, resulting in three missed games... had 6 tackles against Sam Houston... received the Nicholls Student-Athlete Award for Academic Excellence for the second straight year.

2011 Season (Sophomore): Named Southland Conference All-Academic… started nine games while seeing action in all 11… was sixth on the team with 43 tackles (32 solo)… broke up four passes… forced a fumble against McNeese… best game came against Stephen F. Austin where he recorded seven tackles (six solo) including one for loss.

2010 Season (Freshman): Southland Conference honorable mention… Played in all 11 games including five starts as a true freshman … was third on the team with 50 tackles (33 solo)… season-best was nine tackles (four solo) against Western Michigan… had 3.5 tackles for loss… had a 22-yard interception return versus Northwestern State… broke up three passes… recovered a fumble for 13 yards against Central Arkansas… blocked a PAT attempt against Bacone College.

At John Curtis: Named All-District, All-Metro and All-State First Team his senior season in 2009... led the school to an appearance in the Louisiana State 2A Championship game... had a total of 65 tackles in 2009 to go along with six interceptions and three returned for touchdowns... also garnered Academic All-State and WGO and WWL Scholar Athlete of the Week recognition his senior campaign... was named U.S. Army High School Player of the Week once in 2009... lettered in baseball, basketball, and track and field.

Personal: Born on December 29, 1990 in Raceland, La… son of Elaine and Joel Hanberry… father played football at ULM… has six siblings: Kenny, Joelaine, Joel Jr., Jacob, Julianne and current teammate, Josh… sisters Joelaine and Julianne graduated from Nicholls… brother Jacob played football at Millsaps... majoring in biology.
