Frank Bourgeois joined the Nicholls State University Athletic Department as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in June 2021 – overseeing the training of 15 sports, and leading that of football, track and field, cross country and tennis.
Bourgeois came to Nicholls from Dallas, Texas where he worked in the private sector as the Director of Applied Health and Performance Research and Director of Performance at Athlete Training and Health (ATH). Prior to ATH, he served as assistant strength and conditioning coach for 1st and 2nd XV rugby squads at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, New Zealand.
Before arriving in New Zealand, Bourgeois was the head strength and conditioning coach at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas – overseeing the training of 13 sports, and leading that of football and cross country.
He also served as a strength and conditioning coach at University Laboratory High School (girls’ basketball and volleyball), Louisiana State University (football), and Gayle Hatch Weightlifting (beginner and intermediate weightlifters) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Southern Methodist University (football and cross country) in Dallas, Texas.
Bourgeois became a Doctor of Philosophy in Sport and Exercise Science at Auckland University of Technology (2018), attained a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Midwestern State University (2013), a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology – Pre-Medicine at Morehouse College (2006), and attended Jesuit High School of New Orleans (2001).
