Anthony “AB” Bennett Jr. is entering his first year on the Nicholls Men’s Basketball staff as the Director of Player Development/Recruiting Coordinator. Before coming down the Bayou he was an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season at Clarendon College. Clarendon finished (23-10) (11-5) in conference with an appearance in the Region 5 Championship Game. While with the program, Bennett helped recruit a highly talented team with 4 WJCAC First-Team All-Conference players. Most notably, Bennett coached the #1 Ranked Junior College Player in the Nation, Dior Johnson, as well as 7 other Division 1 signees. 

Prior to his work at Clarendon, Bennett was an assistant coach at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA where he helped the Bears finish with a (20-8) record and an appearance in the Region 19/20 Semi-Finals game. That season, Coach AB took part in the development of 3 Division 1 Signees.

Before arriving at Harcum, Bennett was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Aberdeen High School. In his one year at Aberdeen, he helped guide the team to a division championship and a state playoff berth. Coach also assisted in the development of 2 First Team All-County players. 

Bennett started his coaching career at Penn State York as an intern, finishing the season (22-6) (17-2) in conference helping them to a PSUAC championship game appearance and developing 3 All-Conference talents. The season prior Bennett lead Penn State York in scoring off the bench averaging 13ppg shooting 40% from 3pt range. He guided his team to a PSUAC championship win and a final four appearance at the USCAA tournament. 

Anthony Bennett Jr. is a native of Aberdeen, Maryland. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Pennsylvania State University.
