Tyler Guidry joined the Nicholls State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2025, bringing with him valuable experience at both the collegiate and high school levels. A Houston native, Guidry has built a reputation as a strong recruiter, skill developer, and mentor who emphasizes discipline, accountability, and academic success.

Guidry spent the 2024–25 season as an assistant coach at Sam Houston State, where he focused heavily on player development and the application of data analytics to enhance individual performance. His work directly contributed to the Bearkats finishing top 15 nationally in three-point field goal percentage, with standout seasons from First Team All-Conference guard Lamar Wilkerson and Honorable Mention forward Cam Huefner.

Prior to that, he served two years as an assistant coach at UTRGV, where he was actively involved in recruiting, opponent scouting, and player development in the WAC.

Earlier in his career, Guidry made a significant impact as the head coach at Westbury Christian School in Houston, one of the nation’s top high school basketball programs. Over four seasons, he guided the Wildcats to national prominence, developed numerous college prospects, and was recognized as the 2021 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Head Coach of the Year.

In addition to his high school and college coaching roles, Guidry has been deeply involved in grassroots basketball development, where he has worked with and helped develop more than 25 players who have gone on to play at the Division I level. His broad network and proven track record in player growth have made him a respected figure in recruiting and player development circles.

At Nicholls, Guidry’s responsibilities include recruiting, player development, opponent scouting, and academic support, as he helps continue building the Colonels into a contender in the Southland Conference.
