Cassidy Barrios was hired as assistant coach for the Nicholls State University women's basketball team prior to the 2020-21 season.

Following her stellar career as a Colonel, she had a brief professional stint overseas before returning to Thibodaux to serve as a director of basketball operations for the 2019-20 season.Ā 

Barrios played at Nicholls from 2016-19 where she graduated as the most decorated Colonel in program history. As a junior, she became the first Colonel to be named Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year and also went on to earn Southland Tournament MVP as she led Nicholls to its first conference championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She was also selected as Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Year twice and garnered Southland Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year in her junior and senior campaigns.

As a senior, Barrios averaged 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds and was one of just six Division I players to average 20 and 10. Her 660 points set a school single-season record, which was the ninth best in Southland Conference history, and she ended her career with a school record 1,993 points.

She helped Nicholls to its first-ever 20-win season in 2018-19 and appearance in the Women's Basketball Invitational. Nicholls also won a school record 14 games in the Southland to earn a No. 3 seed in the tournament.

Barrios appeared in 124 games for the Colonels and averaged 16.1 points per game. She was a three-time All-Southland selection and was the first player in school history to be named first team twice.Ā Along with being the program's all-time leading scorer, she had the most blocks in team history and ranked second in rebounds and steals, and third in assists. She racked up a total of 44 double-doubles in her career.Ā 

Barrios graduated in the spring of 2019 with a degree in business management.Ā
