Kalyn Banks was named as an assistant coach for women's basketball at Nicholls State University in August 2022. She joined the Colonels after coaching at South Plains College.
Prior to her coaching career, Banks played four years at Randolph College (2016-20), in Lynchburg, Virginia and majored in Psychology. In her rookie season, she helped the team advance to the playoffs for the first time since 1998.
Banks played in 94 career games for the WildCats and started 67. She ranked eighth all-time in program history with 908 points and her 693 rebounds placed her fourth. Her junior year she averaged a double-double, finishing seventh in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in scoring and fourth in rebounding at 9.7 per game.

After graduating from Randolph College, she assisted with her former high school team Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), over the summer of 2020 under head coach Shawn Wright. She later on moved to Levelland, Texas to assist at South Plains College with Head Coach Ara Baten and Assistant Coach Denise Rosario. The Lady Texans finished the season with a 22-9 overall record, an 11-3 record in conference, and an appearance in the Elite 8 in the NJCAA Championship. South Plains College also had three student-athletes receive Division I offers.Â

Banks is a native of Clinton, Maryland. She graduated high school from From The Heart Christian School and played for Riverdale Baptist which at the time was nationally ranked. In her 2016 season at Riverdale, she was a part of a winning program. Her team won an array of championships her senior season including 2016 NACA Varsity Championship, 2015 Boo Williams Christmas Classic Championship, 2015 Virgin Island HS Championship, 2016 Bishop Walsh Championship and her team placed runner-up in the Dicks Nationals Tournament.
Banks is the second oldest of four children -- Â Justin, Lauren and Marcus Banks. She is the proud daughter of Patrick and Karen Banks.Â
