2012 (Junior): In her first season at Nicholls after transferring from Scottsdale Community College, Newell played in 17 matches for the Colonels with eight starts... Finished the season tied for the team lead in goals with five and second in assists with three... Took 30 shots on the year with 14 shots on goal... Logged 1033 minutes on the pitch at the forward position, playing 90 or more minutes three times... Earned points in four consecutive matches, scoring in three of the four, while tallying a career-best two assists against ULM Sept. 9... Earned three points against Spring Hill College with a goal and an assist against the Badgers Aug. 19... Took 17 corner kicks on the season with one unassisted goal coming against Prairie View A&M.

Prior to Nicholls:

At Scottsdale Community College: Played for two years as an Artichoke under 2011 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Skelly Kellar, being named second team NJCAA All-America and first team all-ACCAC in 2011 as the team finished third in the nation with a 22-1-1 record and district I championship and honorable mention All-America in 2010... Played in all 24 SCC games as a sophomore last year, leading the conference in points with 51 with a team-high 17 assists while finishing second in goals with 17...  Played in 17 games as a freshman, tallying four goals and team-high seven assists for 15 total points.

At Horizon High School: A three-time team most valuable player and first team Class 5A selection, Newell wrapped up her career as a Husky with 31 goals and 21 assists to make the All-Arizona girls soccer team along with being named the Desert Valley Player of the Year and was also academic all-american.

Personal: Full name is Annie Lynne Newell, born May 24th in Phoenix, Ariz... Parents are Reed and Barbara Newell... Has two brothers, Daniel and Michael, as Daniel played soccer at Army from 2004 to 2008 earning captain honors in each season... Majoring in nursing.
