Nicholls (10-16) will be looking to sweep Southern as the teams have squared off twice already this season. The Colonels defeated the Lady Jaguars in the season opener in Hammond, 10-1 in five innings before winning at Southern week later, 9-3.

Brittany Marcet has led Nicholls in the two victories against Southern, going 3-of-5 with four RBIs. Ashley Bertot has scored four runs versus Southern and is tied with Marcet for the team lead in batting, with both sitting at .314 on the year. Bertot, along with freshman Haley Parkerson, head into the game with eight-game hitting streaks.

Senior Ashton Bennett has both wins against SU, posting a 1.27 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11 innings in the circle. Bennett picked up a win last weekend at Northwestern State to record her seventh victory of the season and has been the Colonels' main pitcher this season, ranking fourth in the Southland with 84 innings pitched.

Southern (1-26) has one win on the year, defeating Houston Victoria 7-4 last weekend. The Lady Jaguars are batting .168 as a team, led by Shabanese Brown and Shawntall Steamer at .241. Their pitching staff has a 7.95 ERA, with Carla  Arismendi recording the only win.
