THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team dropped their home opener to Stephen F. Austin 3-0 on Thursday night in Stopher Gymnasium.
The Colonels (4-10, 0-1 SLC) dropped the first set 25-16 and second set 25-18 in the first Southland Conference matchup of the season. Nicholls fought back in the third set, but couldn't overcome the onslaught from the Ladyjacks (8-7, 1-0 SLC) falling 25-21.
Kaci Eaton led the Colonels with 11 kills and added 11 digs on the night.
Kalynn Egea had a team-high 18 digs, while
Stephanie Tobison totaled 10 kills and 13 digs.
Ainsley Marroccoli had 20 assists and
Alyse Barclay added 11.
Jacque Allen had a team-leading 15 kills for SFA while Jill Ivy added 10. OJ Olson led the Ladyjacks with 23 digs, while Holland Paige added 36 assists.
The Colonels will look to rebound on Saturday as they face conference foe Northwestern State at 2 p.m. in Stopher Gymnasium.
