HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Nicholls State University cross-country teams showed grit and perseverance on Friday morning, battling a difficult course, in stormy weather at the Southland Conference Championships.
The Red and Grey fought through heavy rain and thunderstorms at the Country Campus Golf Course, and the men's race was eventually called early due to lightning.
As has been the case nearly all season long,
Hannah Naquin led all Colonel finishers at the event, running a 25:38.2 in the women's 6k.
Brice Davis and
Callie Scull finished just off of Naquin's time, crossing in 27:00.1 and 27:38.1 respectively.
Rachante Colebrook came in at 30:13.8, while Terrian Guaff crossed with a time of 30:41.1. Iesha Taylor rounded out the finishes for the women's team with a 37:44.6.
The Nicholls women's team placed just ahead of New Orleans overall.
Peter Alleman led the Colonel men with a 29:43.0 in the 8k.
Jake Lee finished just over a minute off of Alleman's pace, coming in at 30:56.2. Stefon Naquin turned in a time of 33:11.4 to close out the top performances by Nicholls.
With the indoor track season right around the corner, the Nicholls women will turn their attention to track preparations.
