BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Nicholls State University women's track and field team excelled at the Samford Invitational on Friday and Saturday in their last tune-up before the indoor Southland Conference Championships.
Kierranika Duncan led the way for the Colonels with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, leaping 39' 3.75''.
Tessni Carruthers had her best 800-meter run of the year, finishing seventh with a time of 2:15.17.
The Nicholls 4x400-meter relay team of
Quadri Newson,
Callie Scull,
Courtney Crawford and
Dasia McCullum crossed in 4:02.82 and took 11
th place.
Ashley Johnson rounded out the Colonels' top-20 finishes, earning a time of 58.51 in the 400-meter.
Nicholls will next take on the SLC Championships, slated for Feb. 16-17. The Championships will be held in Birmingham and broadcast live at http://southland.org/watch.
