SAN ANTONIO, Texas  – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team won its fifth and sixth consecutive matches as the Colonels defeated Midwestern State and Incarnate Word on Friday and Saturday, respectively, with a pair of 4-3 wins at the Mabry Tennis Center.

With the wins, Nicholls evens its season record to 7-7 and the victory over UIW puts the squad at 1-1 in conference.

Both matches turned out almost the same for the Colonels as they won the doubles point before taking No. 5 and 6 singles against each team. The only difference was in Friday's match against Midwestern State (10-5), the Colonels won the No. 4 singles match while on Saturday, Nicholls took the No. 2 court.

Against Midwestern State, the Colonels' top half of the singles lineup came up empty, despite a valiant effort by Karatzas at No. 3 with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 loss to Ramon Toyos. But Cronin and Max Sinn each won in straight sets at 5 and 6, respectively, and Wezeman came through with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Chris Norrie for the team win.
