THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team evened its overall and Southland Conference records with a 4-2 victory against Abilene Christian on Friday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
The Colonels (8-8, 2-2 SLC) dominated doubles play, winning courts 1 and 2.
Kieran Cronin and
Bernard Wezeman picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1, while
Sam Meessen /
Lukas Clemens won 8-4 at No. 2.
In singles, Clemens and
Evan Karatzas saw each of their sets scored 6-3, with Clemens winning in straight sets over Jason Proctor at No. 2, while Karatzas was defeated at No. 3 by Nico Agritelley. Wezeman won his match at No. 4 over Henry Adams, 6-4, 6-4, and Meessen dominated his opponent, Paul Domanski, 6-1, 6-1, on the No. 6 court.
At No. 1,
Partha Adavelly rallied to win the second set against Guilherme Gesser, but went on to fall 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
Max Sinn's match at No. 6 went unfinished after Nicholls secured the 4-2 win.
The Colonels will have two weeks off before playing in their regular season finale against Lamar on Friday, April 17. First serve at the Colonel Tennis Complex is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
