THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team picked up a convincing 6-1 win over Prairie View A&M on Thursday at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
With the win, Nicholls climbed over the .500 mark at 9-8. The Colonels will close out the regular season on Friday, April 17, at 2 p.m. at home against Lamar.
Against Prairie View, the Colonels cruised in doubles play, winning the No. 2 and 3 courts, 8-3 and 8-2, respectively. In singles, the No. 2 through 6 players in the lineup picked up victories, all in straight sets.
Lukas Clemens, reigning Southland player of the week, pitched a near shutout on the No. 2 court, defeating Bruno Snyder, 6-0, 6-1.
Bernard Wezeman defeated Sergio Avella on the No. 3 court, 6-2, 6-1, while
Kieran Cronin (No. 4),
Sam Meessen (No. 5) and
Max Sinn (No. 6) all won their matches by the scores of 6-1, 6-2. Prairie View avoided the shutout by winning the No. 1 match as Christian Waldron defeated
Partha Adavelly in straight sets.
