Final Results MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Behind a one-under by sophomore
Chad Watts-Denyes, the Nicholls State University men's golf team shot a team-low 294 in the final round of the Husky Intercollegiate on Tuesday to move up a spot in the standings to finish in a tie for sixth place out of nine teams.
The Colonels completed the tournament with an 894 (302-298-294), which was 12 strokes behind fifth place Incarnate Word. Houston took the team title with an 851, winning by a total of 22 strokes.
After shooting in the 80s in the first two rounds, Watt-Denyes closed out the tournament with a career-round of 70, which was the fourth best score of the day.
Tye Smith put together a solid outing with a 72 (+1) and
Jack Lee carded his third consecutive 73. Lee sank a team-high seven birdies to lead the Colonels with a 6-over for the tournament as he earned his second top 10 finish (tied for ninth) in as many events.
Albert Badosa-Soler shot a 79 in his final 18 and
Josh Fullilove finished with an 80. Fullilove was second on the Colonels for the tournament with a 225, followed closely by Smith with a 226.
For the individual title, Houston's Michael Perras took the crown with a 205.
The Colonels will have a few weeks off before returning to the links on Oct. 19 in the APSU Intercollegiate in Kentucky.
