THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team will begin a four-match home stand Thursday with a matchup against Lamar. First serve at Stopher Gym is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Colonels (6-18, 1-7) are coming off their first win in the Southland after defeating New Orleans, 3-2, on Tuesday. Four Colonels reached double figures in kills, led by 14 from
Stephanie Tobison.
On the season,
Kali Schwartz has paced the attack for the Red and Gray, tallying 2.55 kills per set.
Kaci Eaton is averaging 2.38 kills and
Emily Weimer leads the team with a .332 hitting percentage, which ranks in the Southland Conference.
Lamar heads into the match with a 4-16 overall record, but all four wins have come in league play (4-4). In their last outing, the Cardinals snapped a three-game skid with a 3-0 victory over Abilene Christian. The Colonels played ACU earlier this season, falling 3-0 to the Wildcats.
LU is led by Chelsea Grant with a 3.47 kills per set. The Cardinals took last season's matchup, 3-1, in Beaumont.
Following Thursday's match, Nicholls will host HBU on Saturday at noon. Next week, Nicholls welcomes Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 27) and New Orleans (Oct. 29).
