Live StatsSPRING, Texas – After 36 holes to open the Inaugural Colin Montgomerie on Monday, the Nicholls State University men's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place out of 15 teams, helped by an even par day from
Albert Badosa-Soler.
The Colonels shot a 294 in the first round at The Tradition Course – Cypresswood Golf Club and a 293 in the second to finish the day with a 587. Houston led the way with a 13-under 563, followed by host Houston Baptist (572), Central Arkansas (583) and Weber State (586). Oral Roberts is tied for fifth with Nicholls at 11-over.
Badosa ended the first day in a tie for ninth in the individual standings. He was consistent in both rounds, birdying and bogeying three times in each to shoot 72 (144). Last week's individual medalist
Jack Lee shot a 1-over 73 in each round (146), tying Badosa for the team lead with six birdies. Lee was also one of eight players in the tournament field to record an eagle as he carded a 3 on 18 in the second round.
Peyton McCulloch birdied once on the day as he finished with a pair of 2-over 74s (148).
Chad Watts-Denyes shot a 75-74—149 while
Josh Fullilove finished with a 77-76—153.
HBU's Carl Trevino led all players with 68s in each round for an 8-under.
