McKINNEY, Texas  – A change to the schedule resulted in a 36-hole round for the Nicholls State University men's golf team as the Colonels shot a 309 and 303 to finish Monday's action in the Southland Conference championship in 10th place out of 11 teams.
 
The teams will wrap up play at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club on Tuesday, with tee times slated for 7:30-8:06 a.m.
 
The Colonels were led by freshman Jack Lee, who tied teammate Josh Fullilove with eight birdies on the day which were the fourth most of the 55 competitors. As a team, Nicholls had a total of 30 birdies, tying McNeese State for the second-most. Lee was also one of 10 players to record an eagle as he sank a 35-foot putt on Par 5, Hole 7 in the first round, but it was negated at the end of each turn as he doubled holes 9 and 18 to finish at 1-over 73.
 
Lee added five more birdies in round 2, but 9 and 18 proved to be troublesome again as he recorded a double and triple bogey. He finished Monday with a 73-76—149 to tie for 19th in the individual standings.
 
Albert Badosa-Soler finished four strokes behind Lee after carding 78 and 75. Badosa sank three birdies in each round, and also recorded a double bogey in both.
 
Fullilove and Chad Watts-Denyes both shot 155 for the two rounds after the duo improved their scores after the first 18.  Watts-Denyes shaved five strokes off his score to shoot a 75 in the second, helped by three birdies on the front. Fullilove had five birdies in the second round to help knock off a stroke at 78-77.
 
Rounding out Monday's action was Peyton McCulloch, who made a birdie in each round to finish at 86-78—164.
 
McNeese State leads all teams with a 3-over 579, followed by Southeastern Louisiana (590) and Sam Houston State (592). McNeese's Martin Eriksson holds a four-stroke lead with a 5-under 139.
