RESULTS | LIVE SCORING JONESBORO, Ark. – Playing in its final event of the regular season, the Nicholls State University men's golf team wrapped up day one of the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate on Monday in a tie for seventh place out of 15 teams after 36 holes of play.
The Colonels will play the final round of the intercollegiate on Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Nicholls fired a 289 in the opening round to place fourth after 18 holes, but shot a 10-over 294 in the second round to slip down to seventh. The Colonels finished with a two-round score of 583, tying Northern Iowa and trailing FAU by four strokes (579). Host Arkansas State leads all teams with a 13-under 555.
Chad Watts-Denyes led the Colonels with a 70-74—144, finishing at 2-over. Watts-Denyes drained three birdies in the first round to card a 1-under, tying
Albert Badosa-Soler and
Peyton McCulloch for the Colonels' best round of the day.
Soler shot a 70-77—147, finishing two strokes behind
Josh Fullilove, who fired a 72-73—145. On the front nine in round one, Fullilove sank four birdies en route to his 1-over.
McCulloch had a 78 in the first round, but bounced back with a 1-under 70 in the second, helped by five birdies.
Jack Lee shot a 154 on the day after carding 77s in both rounds.
