BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team lost a hard-fought five-set battle against Samford, before dropping a 3-0 decision to South Alabama on the opening day of the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
GAME 1 (Samford)
HOW IT HAPPENED
After losing the opening set, the Colonels (0-2) stormed back to take the next two. The Bulldogs (1-0) responded and forced a fifth set, before earning a 15-6 win to steal the match.
GAME 2 (South Alabama)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nicholls held leads in set one and set three, but the Jaguars (2-0) earned three straight set victories to win the match (25-19, 25-16, 25-19). South Alabama held the Colonels to a .114 hitting percentage in the contest.
UP NEXT
Nicholls will conclude the weekend with a 1 p.m. matchup against Indiana State on Saturday.
STAY TUNED
Following this weekend's action, the Colonels will return home to host Southern at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
