JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) setback against Mercer on Saturday in the Best Western Osprey Invite, keeping the Colonels winless for the weekend.
Brieanna Hill reached double figures in kills for the second time this weekend, finishing with 10. The sophomore was named to the all-tournament team, giving her the nod for the second time in as many weekends.
Ainsley Marrocoli and
Lucija Barac combined for 30 assists, led by Marrocoli's 16.
Kaci Eaton had a pair of aces and
Alexa Perry led Nicholls (4-7) with 12 digs.
Mercer had two players surpass double digits in kills as Morgan Macgilvary had 14 and Emily Krogman had 12. The biggest differential in the stat column were aces with Mercer racking up a total of 12 in the three sets.
The Colonels will have no midweek games before heading to Jacksonville, Ala. for four matches this weekend. Nicholls plays ULM (11:30 a.m.) and Jacksonville State (7 p.m.) on Friday (Sept. 16), and follows up with matches against Kennesaw State (9 a.m.) and Evansville (4:30 p.m.).
