THIBODAUX, La. – Following two tough contests in Texas, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team returns home for a pair of Southland Conference matches at the Nicholls Soccer Complex. The Colonels host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday (Sept. 30) at 4 p.m. before a Sunday matchup against Houston Baptist at 1 p.m.
 
Nicholls (3-4-1, 0-2-1 SLC) will be looking to get back on track after an outstanding 3-1 start. But the Colonels opened conference play with a tie against Lamar before falling at Abilene Christian and UIW over the weekend. During the Colonels' four-match winless streak, they have been outscored, 7-2, and were shutout twice.
 
Senior Jess Coates added a goal in the loss at Abilene Christian, giving her six on the year. She is currently tied for the league lead and is averaging an SLC best 0.86 goals per match. Kristy Helmers, who has four goals on the year, ranks in the top 10 as well with a 0.57 average.
 
The Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi also come in on a winless streak, however, theirs has lasted the entire season. Losses at SFA and Sam Houston last weekend put the Islanders at 0-10 on the year and 0-3 in conference. Corpus Christi has been shutout five times this season is being outscored, 45-5.
 
HBU brings a 3-6-1 overall mark and a 1-1-1 record in league play. The Huskies take on Southeastern on Friday before making the trip South to Thibodaux.
 
Gabby Rodriguez headlines the HBU attack with five goals on the year. Last weekend, Rodriguez found the net in both matches, including both goals in the Huskies 4-2 loss to SFA.
