THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball squad will kick off a four-game homestand Monday when it faces Blue Mountain College on a 7 p.m. tip at Stopher Gymnasium.

The Colonels (3-3) split their games at the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland tournament, topping Presbyterian 76-64 before dropping an 89-88 decision to host UMBC. In the title game, senior guard
Lafayette Rutledge accumulated 30 points on a program-record 10 3-pointers.
Senior guards
Roddy Peters and
Tevon Saddler averaged 17.5 and 17.0 points, respectively, during the event. Peters flirted with a triple-double against the Blue Hose, totaling 24 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Saddler posted a double-double versus the Retrievers, tallying 17 points and 12 boards.
Nicholls ranks atop the Southland in assists per game (18.0), defensive rebounds per game (28.0), scoring offense (94.2), 3-point field goals per game (12.2) and 3-point field goal percentage (40.3). Rutledge's 4.3 treys per contest sit fourth in Division I, contributing to the ninth-highest scoring offense in the country.
The Toppers (2-2) boast the Southern States Athletic Conference's top scorer in Jaylon Bardley (21.5 ppg) and top shot blocker in LaByron Harris (3.25 bpg). Bardley has scored 20-plus points in three of four contests this season.
