NEW ORLEANS – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-2 victory against Loyola University New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.
 
Despite losing the doubles point, the Colonels (1-1) dominated singles play and went on to win five of the six matches. Following straight-set wins by 
Oleksander Podgursky, 
Cornelius Schramm and 
Bernard Wezeman; 
Leo Santos went on to clinch the team victory with a 7-6, 6-3 win on the No. 6 court.
 
Sam Meessen went on to win on the No. 2 court, while 
Max Sinn fell in a three-set battle with Ernesto de Diego, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (7-1).
 
Wezeman and Meessen started things off with a win in doubles on the No. 2 court, but Loyola (2-3) came away with a point after winning courts 2 and 3.
