Wheeler sets personal record in triple jump at Samford Open

BIRMINGHAM, Ala  – Senior Ashley Wheeler surpassed her personal record in the triple jump with a 39-10 to earn fourth place in the Samford Indoor Open over the weekend.

Wheeler set a new personal best in the triple jump last week at the Bayou Bengal Invitational before breaking the mark by nearly a foot. Her 39-10 was just short of program's indoor record (39-10.75), set by Kierranika Duncan in the 2015 Southland Indoor Championship.

In the track events, two Colonels earned  top 20 finishes. Courtney Crawford led the way in the 200 meter with a 25.29, placing 12th. In the mile run, Hannah Naquin took 17th after crossing the line at 5:14.71.
