MOBILE, Ala.  – After having its opener canceled due to weather, the Nicholls State University men's tennis team started its 2017 spring season with a 7-0 loss at South Alabama Sunday at the Mobile Tennis Courts.
 
It was a tough showing for the Colonels (0-1) against the Jaguars as the home team swept all three doubles matches and won each singles match in straight sets. Bernard Wezeman and Oleksander Podgursky had the closest decisions for the Colonels, falling by the scores of 6-3 and 6-2 on the No. 1 and 3 courts, respectively.
 
The Colonels will return to the courts Friday, Feb. 11 against Loyola-New Orleans in City Park. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
