FULL RESULTS
LAFAYETTE, La. – The Nicholls State University women's track and field team made its outdoor debut in the Louisiana Classic, and
Ky Thomas and
Sakinah Abdul-Aziz took first and second, respectively, in the long jump to highlight the weekend.
Thomas won the long jump after clearing a distance of 18-07.75, which came on her first attempt of the competition. Thomas' distance was just short of her personal best of 18-09.25, set in 2015. Abdul-Aziz earned second place after posting an 18-03.75, which also came on her first jump of the day.
In the triple jump,
Ashley Wheeler took third place with a 39-10.00. LSU's Nataliyah Friar received first place in the triple with a distance of 42-00.75.
In the track events, the Colonels earned three top 10 finishes in the 200 and 1500 meter.
Elexus Allen led seven Colonels in the 200 with a 25.30 and
Courtney Crawford finished next with a 25.38. In the 1500,
Hannah Naquin ran a 5:08.37 to earn eighth place.
