THIBODAUX, La.  – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team closed out the regular season with Senior Day against Lamar, and the senior Max Sinn picked up a straight-set victory in his final home match as the Colonels were defeated, 6-1, Friday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex.

Lamar (15-6, 4-0 SLC) entered the matchup looking to remain perfect in league play with hopes of capturing its second straight title, while the Colonels (5-10, 0-5 SLC) were still searching for their first league win. After taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the point, the Cardinals won the first five singles matches before Sinn capped his career in Thibodaux with a win at No. 3.

Sinn defeated Jeandre Hoogenboezem by the score of 6-4 in each set. The victory was Sinn's fourth of the season and first in conference.

While Lamar claimed straight-set victories in each of the five singles wins, four of the sets went to seven points. On the No. 1 line, Sam Meessen battled with reigning SLC player of the year, Michael Feucht, before falling 6-3, 7-6. Oleksander Podgursky dropped his match, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 and Cornelius Schramm was defeated 6-3, 7-6, at No. 6.
