THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Houston Baptist University Monday afternoon at Yockey Bernard Field, surrendering three first-half goals in a five-minute span.
The Huskies (6-5-1, 4-0-1 SLC) got on the board via a Gabby Rodriguez score in the 19th minute. She took a through ball from Avery Cortez and finished beautifully just outside the 18-yard box. Autumn Wildung and Sabriah Spencer added one goal each in the 22nd and 23rd minute, respectively. HBU took eight shots in the first half.
Rodriguez capped her day by slipping a ball to Emma Dooher who scored the final goal in the 53rd minute.
While the Colonels (2-9, 0-4 SLC) did not produce any attempts in the first half, the squad did a much better job of creating chances in the second period. Nicholls planted seven total shots, including four on frame.

The Colonels travel to McNeese Friday for a 7 p.m. battle before returning home to face Lamar on Sunday at 1 p.m.
