LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to McNeese State University Friday night at Cowgirl Field.
Cowgirls (9-4-1, 3-1-1 SLC) midfielder Nola Prickett scored on a header in the 57th minute following a cross into the box by Anna Watson.
The Colonels (2-10, 0-5 SLC) managed two shots, both in the second half. senior midfielder Haylee Atwell took a strike on target in the 82nd minute, but it was collected by McNeese goalkeeper Emma Roccaforte.
The Cowgirls totaled 23 shots, including 13 on goal. Star forward Havana Johnson attempted a match-high five, four of which were on frame.
Nicholls junior goalkeeper Roosa Hurmerinta recorded 10 saves, marking her first double-figure save performance of the season and fifth of her career.
The Colonels return to action Sunday at home against Lamar. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The venue is tentatively set at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.
