CONWAY, Ark. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to UCA Thursday, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
The Colonels (3-20, 1-9 SLC) had six student-athletes record at least four kills, including junior
Heidi Carpenter's team-high seven terminations. Nicholls jumped ahead 3-1 in the opening set but two separate five-point runs gave the Sugar Bears (17-5, 7-2 SLC) a one-set advantage.
Nicholls was close at 20-19 in the second before a five-point spurt closed it out. The Colonels led 16-14 in the deciding frame before a 6-0 run silencing Nicholls' momentum.
Kellen Dunn fronted the Sugar Bears offense with 15 kills followed by 10 kills from Haley Tippett.
Nicholls faces Stephen F. Austin (22-2, 9-0 SLC) Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday.
