Colonels head to McNeese Wednesday

Listen | Live Stats | Nicholls Game Notes

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball squad travels to Burton Coliseum on Wednesday to face McNeese State University at 6:30 p.m.

The Colonels have won 10 of their last 11 games, holding the top spot in the Southland Conference at 12-2. This marks the team's best record since 1998.

Senior guard Roddy Peters was named the league's player of the week on Monday after lifting Nicholls to wins over Sam Houston State and UCA. Peters neared a triple-double with 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists against the Bears. That marked the Colonels' first 30-point scorer since fellow senior Lafayette Rutledge tied a program record with 10 threes against UMBC on Nov. 24.

These two faced off in Stopher Gym on Jan. 10 with Nicholls prevailing 85-80. Peters poured in a game-high 26 points during that contest and has scored in double figures in all but one SLC game this season.

The Cowboys (9-15, 6-8 SLC) split their last two games, topping UCA 76-72 before falling to New Orleans 90-74. McNeese has lost four consecutive battles at home. Considering league play, Peters (19.9 ppg) and Kaleb Ledoux (18.3 ppg) rank second and fourth, respectively, in scoring. The Cowboys have the best three-point field goal percentage in the conference at 40.6 percent.
