THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team faces Purdue University Wednesday on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field, concluding a six-game homestand. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The promotion for the contest is Weenie Wednesday with $1 hot dogs available in the concession stand.
The Colonels (4-12) topped Northwestern State Friday before dropping the final two games 3-1 and 5-3 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The pitching staff produced three quality starts over the weekend but the Demons outscored Nicholls 5-0 in the final three innings between Saturday and Sunday.
Senior outfielder
Lee Clark has been on a tear the last five outings, hitting .412 with a .941 slugging percentage. Clark hit three doubles and two homers in that span. Senior infielder

Xane Washington is one of 30 Division I student-athletes to have at least three triples this season.
Purdue is 9-4 on the year, dropping two of three against Tulane this past weekend. The Boilermakers face Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday night. Purdue ranks atop the Big Ten in slugging percentage (.453) with Jackson McGowan fronting the league and ranking ninth in the nation at .837.
