Nico Rijo-Berger was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's first team as the organization announced its 2026 baseball superlatives.
Rijo-Berger was a standout for the Colonels as he earned All-Southland Conference Second Team honors. He posted a .347 batting average with 59 hits including nine doubles, and three home runs while seeing action in 45 games. He added 27 RBI and scored 27 runs and stole three bases.
The Knoxville, Tennessee native thrived during SLC action as he registered 40 hits and 21 RBI and boasted a league best .374 average. He had 20 multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance that featured the game-winning hit to secure the regular season series against Lamar.
A Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel of media and sports publicists selected the All-Louisiana team. The teams include college baseball players from NCAA Division I and III, NAIA and junior college.
