THIBODAUX, La. – Following a four-day period away from competition, the Nicholls State University baseball team is set for a conference series versus McNeese State University this weekend on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.

The contests Friday and Saturday will begin at 6 p.m. with the finale commencing at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Fried fish poboys will be on sale Friday for $6. Each batter that Nicholls strikes out in the first inning on Saturday takes $1 off beer prices through the fourth. Sunday will feature burger and beer specials. Burgers will be $1 off and two beers for $5 will be sold in the fifth inning.

The Colonels (6-14, 2-4 SLC) dropped two of three to Houston Baptist this past weekend, falling in the final game on a walk-off two-run homer. Nicholls is 5-5 at the Did this season, winning four of the last six on its home turf.

Freshman Xane Washington is one of five student-athletes in the league with three triples. On the mound, senior right-hander Cayden Hatcher boasts the 13^th-best strikeout-to-walk ratio in Division I, totaling 26 strikeouts to just two walks.

The Cowboys (8-12, 5-1 SLC) won six games in a row before dropping their last contest to UL-Lafayette. McNeese is tied with Sam Houston State and SFA for the most homers in the conference at 17, fronted by SLC First Team outfielder Shane Selman's six.

The Cowboys swept Nicholls in Lake Charles last season, but the Colonels have won 13 straight against McNeese in Thibodaux.
