Final Stats BEAUMONT, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team closed out its season with a 7-0 loss at Lamar on Thursday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
Nicholls finished the season with a 5-12 overall record and 1-4 in the Southland. Lamar improved to 8-13 and 2-3.
Lamar won the doubles point, winning courts 1 and 3 before earning a clean sweep in singles. Nicholls was able to claim two sets in singles action but were shut out for the fifth time this season.
Nestor Giribet Lopez was one of the two Colonels to win a set against the Cardinals, taking the opener against Carlos Paton Canal on Court 6. But after winning the first, 7-5, he went on to drop the next two, 6-2, 6-1.
On Court 3,
Alvaro Barranco Vilaltella and LU's Arthur Serafim traded 6-4 decisions before Serafim won the third, 10-5, to give the Cardinals the shutout.
