THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University soccer team fell to Prairie View A&M University 1-0 in a sudden-death overtime Sunday at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.
Following a 1-hour, 40-minute lighting delay that began in the 14
th minute and two scoreless halves, Jojo Bernal scored the Lady Panthers' (1-2-0) lone goal in the 94
th minute on a miscued short pass by the Colonels back to goalkeeper
Roosa Hurmerinta.
Despite falling short, the Colonels (0-4-0) nearly quadrupled PVAMU in total shots, putting up 26 with nine on goal, including a near-score by
Celine Schot in the 16
th minute that bounced off the post. The Lady Panthers totaled seven shots with two on goal.
Francesca Curteis led Nicholls with eight total shots, including four on frame.
Continuing their six-match homestretch, the Colonels will resume play on Friday at 4 p.m. against Jackson State, followed by a match against Alcorn on Sunday at 1 p.m.
