THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University cross country squads will compete in the LSU Invitational Saturday morning at Highland Road Park.
The women's 3-mile will commence at 7:30 a.m. with the men's 4-mile following at 8:10 a.m. The women's pack consists of sophomores
Eleana Callejas and
Joyce Kiplagat and freshmen
Isabelle Caron,
Faith Keter,
Julia Garcia Verges and
Lara Reifers. The men's side will race junior
Teril Cooper and freshmen
Daniel Figueroa,
Tyler Granger,
Jonathan Hernandez,
Lane Robichaux and
Dustin Worley.
"The LSU Invitational is an excellent opportunity for our teams as we will see several regionally-ranked teams and several Southland Conference opponents," Nicholls head coach
Stefanie Slekis said. "I'm looking forward to seeing our men and women continue to race well with their teammates like we did at the home meet. This will be a larger race with eight Division I teams competing."
The other seven colleges at the event will be host LSU, McNeese, New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Tulane and UL-Lafayette. This will be the second time the Colonels square off with the Green Wave and the Privateers.
Verges and Figueroa were the top finishers at the Nicholls Invitational. Verges posted a fourth-place finish in the women's 4k at 17:11.02. Figueroa raced to a fifth-place finish in the men's 6k at 21:59.63.
