Gallaher sets new career high at ACU

ABILENE, Texas – Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Jade Gallaher totaled a career-high eight saves as the Nicholls soccer team took a 1-0 loss to Abilene Christian Sunday afternoon at Elmer Gray Stadium.

Gallaher, a Slidell product, accumulated three saves in the first half and five in the second. The only shot on goal she couldn't reject was an attempt by Dylan Owens in the 56th minute. Owens accepted a cross from teammate Alyssia Anuat and slotted her only try of the day into goal from about 6 yards out.

The Colonels (2-7, 0-2 SLC) managed just two shots, one in the first half by sophomore Kelsey Vansickle and one in the second half via freshman Malin Soleng. Both attempts were wide.

The Wildcats (7-3, 2-1 SLC) tallied 25 shots, including nine on frame. Christina Arteaga and Ashley Stamps fronted ACU's attack with four shots apiece.

Nicholls will enjoy a two-match homestretch commencing Friday at 4 p.m. against Houston Baptist. The Colonels then host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at the Nicholls Soccer Complex Sunday at 1 p.m.
