CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (3-7-1, 0-4-0 Southland) were unable to overcome a late push by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-5-1, 2-1-1 Southland) on Friday evening, dropping an eventual 2-0 contest to the host Islanders at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in Corpus Christi, Texas.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- The Red & Gray defense contained an aggressive TAMU-CC attack throughout a majority of the match, surrendering the breakpoint in the 75' after nine consecutive saves by Colonels' keeper
Jade Gallaher. Later in the second half, the Islanders grabbed an insurance score, clinching a two-goal edge at final time.
-- Offensively, the Colonels relied heavily on senior
Blaire Laiche and her team-best two shots-on-goal while fellow seniors
Kristy Helmers -- one shot-on-goal -- and
Tessa Calabria -- one shot -- notched the only other threats from the Red & Gray.
-- Redshirt junior
Jade Gallaher continued to hold down her spot in between the posts, giving up two goals on the night while securing 10 total saves.
