THIBODAUX, La. -- The Nicholls State University women's volleyball program (10-13, 4-8 Southland) aims to recover from a six-match losing skid as the team heads into a split weekend, initially closing out a three-game home stand against New Orleans (12-15, 5-8 Southland) on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. before turning attention to a road contest at McNeese (10-14, 3-9 Southland) on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m..
After battling through the entire slew of Southland opponents over the course of the past month & a half, the Colonels must now rematch their four earliest foes -- New Orleans, McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana & HBU -- during the final two weeks, inverting the home-court advantage from the initial contest. Against the Privateers, the Red & Gray aim for vengeance after dropping the league opener on Sept. 26 by a 3-1 margin; coincidentally, the Colonels seek to avoid a similar fate in Saturday's matchup at McNeese, as Nicholls managed to fight off nine consecutive match points in a 3-2 victory over the Cowgirls back on Sept. 28.
