THIBODAUX, La. -- In yet another record-breaking night on the hardwood, the Nicholls State University men's basketball program (5-4, 0-0 Southland) composed the team's second explosive offensive performance in as many games, upending non-Division I foe Campbellsville-Harrodsburg (3-4, 0-1 USCAA) on Monday night by a 120-69 final score, good for the team's largest margin of victory this season. Individually, redshirt junior Andre Jones posted a highly-impressive triple-double in the dominant win, racking up 13 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists across just 30 minutes of action.
In addition to Jones, four other Colonels -- Lorenzo McGhee, Dexter McClanahan, D'Angelo Hunter and Elvis Harvey Jr. -- managed to breach the double-digit plateau for the game; notably, McGhee dropped a career-high 31 points in the win, resetting the Red & Gray's single-game individual mark along the way.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- For the game, Nicholls finished shooting 52.9 percent (46-of-87) overall -- a season-high -- along with 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from the three-point line and 66.7 percent (14-of-21) at the charity stripe.
-- The Jones triple-double serves as the first-ever under second-year head coach Austin Claunch.
-- Further, the 120 points scored registers as the highest point total in the Claunch era, surpassing last Monday's 102-56 victory over Blue Mountain College in which the same record was broken.
-- For McClanahan, the redshirt senior's 24 points acts as his seventh double-digit outing this season and fourth exceeding the 20-point mark.
-- After securing a solid lead late in the second half, senior Tom Clement and freshman Tyrease Terrell took the floor for their second consecutive game this year, logging a combined nine minutes in the contest.
-- The Red & Gray were, once again, a nightmare defensively, pressuring the Pioneers into 22 turnovers while generating a crucial 13 steals as well.
-- Unsurprisingly, Nicholls outpaced CU-Harrodsburg in nearly every major analytical statistic category, including: points off turnovers (38-to-15); second chance points (21-to-2); points in the paint (64-to-30) and overall bench points (50-to-22).
