THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's and men's tennis teams took the courts Sunday against Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss, respectively, and the Colonels fell in both contests at the Colonel Tennis Complex.

The men's team (2-6) took the doubles points in a 4-1 loss to the Golden Eagles, while the women (2-3) were unable to secure a point against the Lady Techsters.

For the men, Moritz Borges and Nestor Giribet Lopez won 6-1 at the No. 3 line in doubles before Alvaro Barranco Vilaltella/Eduardo Marino closed out the point with a 6-4 win at No. 2.

In singles play, Southern Miss won all four completed matches but two went into three sets. Oleksandr Podgursky won his second set at No. 1 before falling to Tom Cecchetto, and Tobias Lentz started with a win at No. 2 before dropping the match.

Against Louisiana Tech, the women were defeated in doubles before LA Tech earned three straight-set wins in singles. Antonia Roessli won the first set at No. 3 but her match went unfinished.

The women will host Troy on Monday at 1 p.m. while the men head to New Orleans Wednesday to play Xavier.
