NEW ORLEANS – Facing the 40th-ranked squad in the country, the Nicholls State University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback against Tulane Tuesday at the City Park Tennis Center.
Oleksandr Podgursky and
Alvaro Barranco Vilaltella had strong outings in singles despite the Colonels being shutout for the fourth consecutive match. Tulane (11-11) won the doubles point before going on to claim all six matches in straight sets.
On the top court, Podgursky battled Hamish Stewart to a tiebreaker in the opening set before dropping the point, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. Barranco also had close decision at No. 6 against Eric Wagner, 6-4, 7-5.

Nicholls will take on another top program in the state, heading to Baton Rouge for a match against LSU on Saturday, April 6. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
