NATCHITOCHES, La. -- The Nicholls State University track & field program wrapped up the outdoor season at the Southland Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon, notching 14 new personal bests across the final two days of competition at Northwestern State's Ledet Track Complex.
Nicholls HC Stefanie Slekis on the women's performance...
"The women did a great job building off of their momentum from Day One with Maerys Joseph qualifying for her 3rd Outdoor Conference 400m Final. In the final she took 6th place, her highest finish ever at the Southland Championship. Haley Gregoire ran a new 5000m personal best, improving on her sixth all-time mark with a Top 20 finish. The women's 4x400m Relay of Andrews, Alcorn, Bethley, and Joseph ran a season's best and improved on their finish from the indoor championship."
Nicholls HCÂ Stefanie Slekis on the men's performance...
"The men had an exceptional final day with Daniel 'Pencil' Regis, a member of Nicholls 2017-18 Regular Season Men's Basketball Championship team, improving on his personal best twice to take ninth place in the high jump. Jeremy Rogers threw a .45m personal best to take ninth un the javelin. In addition to our top finishes, we had multiple freshmen on both the men's and women's teams set personal bests at the championship, so we are very excited about our team's improvement this season and look forward to our young team being joined by a large class of newcomers we have committed to join us this upcoming fall."
