FRISCO, Texas -- The Southland Conference announced the league's 2019 All-Academic outdoor track & field selections early Wednesday afternoon, naming Nicholls State University senior
Callie Scull to the prestigious honor roll. The Nevada native serves as the Colonels' lone representative this season, boasting a strong 3.90 GPA in biology/pre-med along with notable athletic credentials, including an 11th-place finish in the 800m at this year's SLC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The All-Academic teams are voted upon by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance staff.
Scull competed in both the 400m and 800m events throughout the spring season, setting a personal best in the latter at the LSU Alumni Gold in late April behind a 2:17.33 mark (eighth place). At the McNeese State Springtime Classic, the senior scored a fourth-place finish -- a season-best -- in the 400m and managed the same in the 800m a week later at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational, securing fifth place on the leaderboard.
