LORMAN, Miss. -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (3-2-1, 0-0-0 Southland) returned to the win column in Friday afternoon's match at Alcorn State (0-5-0, 0-0-0 SWAC), defeating the Lady Braves in a tight 3-2 contest behind a goal each from senior Blaire Laiche and freshmen Lara Treuheit & Alicia Carlos. The unusual match not only saw all five goals come in the game's first half, but every one found the back of the net before the 25th minute.

KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- Laiche broke the scoring seal early for both squads, notching her fifth goal of the season just over seven minutes post-kickoff; following back-to-back scores from the Lady Braves, the freshman duo of Treuheit & Carlos would play the hero for the Red & Gray, as the former's goal at the 22' knotted the contest at 2-2 before the latter drilled the eventual game-winner a few minutes later to wrap up the day's scoring efforts.
-- Statistically, Nicholls managed to eclipse Alcorn State in every major offensive category, posting an advantage in total shots (28-to-7), shots-on-goal (11-to-5) and corner kicks (6-to-1).
-- Offensively, the Colonels' found their footing once again as the team reestablished the shoot-and-spread style from early in the season, closing out the game with 11 different shot-takers seeking opportunities at the net. Junior Cato Hom led the group behind a six shot -- three on goal -- performance while Carlos posted five total shots -- two on goal -- and Laiche tacked on another four shots -- just one on goal.
-- In between the posts, redshirt junior Jade Gallaher secured her second start and first victory of the year, surrendering two goals on the afternoon while grabbing three saves.

UP NEXT
With the match at Alcorn State concluded, the Red & Gray turn their attention to the team's final non-conference contest of the season, traveling back to Louisiana for Southern on Sunday, Sept. 15 in Baton Rouge, La.
